Puzzle Out with Python Programming, Levels 1 & 2, 23-27 Oct Holiday Camp (PM) @ City Hall

Learn how to code in the language that built Dropbox, Google and Instagram - Python Programming! If you’re going to learn how to code, why not pick up one of the most versatile and powerful programming languages on the planet? Not only is Python a popular text-based programming language, it’s also really easy to understand and learn, making it perfect for kids. Come find out how easy it is to level up your coding skills!  KEEPIN’ IT SHORT & SNAPPY For kids ages 10-16 Mon-Fri 3h 15mins /day (16 hours in total) Code like a real programmer with a text-based language! Learn universal computer science concepts Requires basic knowledge of programming (i.e. Scratch) "My kids had a blast & came home armed with knowledge & information which they were excited to share with us." - Joanne, Parent With its extensive library that provides access to a multitude of system functionalities, kids can pretty much code anything with Python! Similar to the English language, its syntax is readable and easy to understand. It may not be as easy peasy as block based programming, but it still has a gentle learning curve for a text based program. This is a visual programming language that requires kids to drag and drop programming blocks. It’s great for beginners who haven’t tried programming, but it’s pretty limiting for those who have. Now here’s some big boy/girl coding that requires actual typing of code. (P.s. that’s how real programmers do it.)  Compared to other programming languages like Javascript, kids can execute powerful functions with minimal code in Python. Not to mention, they will get to avoid a whole lot of extra curly brackets, symbols and confusion! From building web applications to analysing data and even game development, the possibilities with Python are endless. But enough talk, check out the sweet stuff your child can do. Code a chasing game by playing around with X and Y coordinates.  Unleash turtle drawing mayhem and create infinite geometrical shapes! Ready to step it up in Python level 2? Let’s kick it up a notch shall we? In Python 2, kids will put their programming skills to the test by coding their very own calculator and writing code that verifies information. Just like how programs identify your NRIC or credit card number out of millions of numbers, kids will learn hard core programming skills to validate important personal data.   Kids will also create a hangman game and encrypt secret messages! Now that’s what we call real programming. With the solid programming foundation they’ll get from learning Python, kids can also easily branch out into other programming languages in the future. So let your child’s journey to programming awesomeness begin! OH! THE STUFF YOU'LL LEARN! Level 1 What’s Python? Understand core computer science concepts like Functions and Loops  Importing Modules Variables: How to debug your code Level 2 Encode a message with a secret key Draw infinite geometrical shapes using Recursion Run code that verifies information  Share and Present! LIFE SKILLS LEARNT Logical Thinking Problem Solving Design Thinking Presentation Skills Pedagogy No lectures. No memorisation. No ONE right answer. Like real life, we're all about trying things out, failing, figuring what went wrong & trying again. These are the skills & mindset that will last a lifetime. Let's get kids to learn how to learn. Because the kids who learn to learn become curious, inventive, resourceful human beings who solve real world problems to make meaningful impact. Parents love us "...and for the first time he is not running to play other people's creations but his own... I am absolutely delighted in the 'mindset' change in my son's attitude." - Emma, Parent "Thank you for a wonderful and exciting enrichment program that is so much more than academics.. it's fun but for me as a mum, an important future skill set for my son." - Rachel, Parent Got more questions on this course of awesomeness? This Python Levels 1 & 2 course welcomes all students but it’ll be helpful to have a basic background in programming. 2. My child is younger than 10. Can he / she join? This Python Levels 1 & 2 course is designed for 10-16 year olds but Python is used by people of all ages. If your child is very keen, we can organise separate classes if there is a minimum of 4 participants. Please contact us directly to enquire. 3. I've enrolled my child, what will he/she need to bring?
