Dear Brothers and Sisters of the Dhamma,  Thank you for your interest in participating in this meditation retreat with Chao Khun Keng. Biography of Chao Khun Keng Venerable Chao Khun Vinayadhamma Vidhes also known as Ajahn Keng is a Singaporean monk from the Thai Forest Tradition of Ajahn Mun Buridatto. In 1987, he was ordained under the recommendation of Ajahn Geoffrey (Thanissaro Bhikkhu). Luang Phor Jiak Cundo, the later generation of Luang Pu Mun disciples, was also one of his teachers. Ajahn Keng was conferred the title of Chao Khun in 2013 by the King of Thailand. He is currently the Abbot of Santi Forest Monastery (Johor Bahru) and President of Palelai Buddhist Temple (Singapore) and Wat Pa Doi Charen Tham at Omkoi (Thailand). Ajahn Keng received his early monastic training under the mentorship of Phra Ajahn Thanissaro Bhikkhu at Wat Dhammasathit, in Rayong, Thailand.  He spent the first three years of his monastic life in Wat Dhammasathit, learning the Dhamma-Vinaya and meditation. Ajahn Keng has undertaken numerous Dhutanga Practices (tudong) and to go on pilgrimage in the deep forests for even more intensive training in meditation.   This first tudong experience gave Ajahn the confidence and conviction that forested areas provide great environment to develop one’s meditative skills.  Since then, Ajahn has been keeping to the forest contemplative lifestyle, preferring to dwell in forests and caves, Phra Ajahn Keng was still active in propagating the teachings and practice of Buddhism to the peoples of Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. As such, this first retreat held in Singapore, will also mark the first retreat held in a close to nature and forested resemblance environment locally. We are indeed honoured and priviledged to have Ajahn’s acceptance on our request in endorsing this retreat in Singapore.
